DALL·E

Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our everyday life. It brings revolutionary changes to various fields and AI powered tools are becoming more and more perfect every day. One such tool is DALL·E, which has now arrived in it’s third, improved version.

DALL·E – what is it?

DALL·E is an advanced artificial intelligence model that can generate images based on text descriptions. It was developed by OpenAI and its name is inspired by the name of the famous artist Salvador Dalí and the animated character WALL-E from the movie of the same name. This model represents a significant advance in the field of generative models and artificial intelligence, finding application in various areas where it is necessary to generate visual content.

DALL·E and ChatGPT

Both of these models are designed by OpenAi, but there are some differences between them. While ChatGPT was primarily designed to generate texts using text input, DALL·E serves to generate images – also through text input. As such, ChatGPT tends to be used more as a chat application, or an assistant in creating and summarising text, as well as a tool that can answer almost every question. In contrast, DALL·E creates visual content, illustrations and design and finds application in various fields including art, visual communication and design.

Origins and individual models

The first model was introduced in January 2021. It is a generative model that uses the GPT-3 architecture modified to generate images.

The DALL·E 2 model was introduced in April 2022 and it produces images with higher quality and better resolution. This model is also able to edit existing images according to text instructions. It uses the “diffusion” technique, which is part of the newer generation and enables smoother transitions between individual parts of the image.

Currently, you will find the DALL·E 3 version available, which will allow you to generate an image even more true to your text entry:

The images generated by this model are of higher quality, have sharper edges and more detail and are more realistic. The model is trained on a huge amount of data, thanks to which it can understand even vague and complex tasks better. This model again represents significant progress in the field of artificial intelligence and finds its use in various areas such as advertising, marketing, design, education, entertainment, etc.

How to use DALL·E

This model is not free. It is currently available to all ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users as well as developers via OpenAI’s API. Therefore, in order to access it, it is necessary to activate a paid plan on the OpenAI platform:

The paid tariff starts at 20 USD per month. Once you have made your payment, there is nothing stopping you from generating images.
